Hi I’m Clare

I’m here to help the right people find your small business online.

As a small business owner you have to wear so many hats - now you get to breathe a sigh of relief as you hand over the whole area of being visible and findable online to me. You don’t have to spend your time even thinking about SEO.  I understand the back-end of your website so you don’t have to! I take care of it all (content strategy, keyword research, blog writing, sorting tech issues with Google analytics, etc etc) freeing you to spend time doing what you love.

“Hiring Clare was a no-brainer for me. As a creative mentor, my energy is meant to go toward working directly with my clients—not trying to understand or keep up with SEO. Clare brings a rare combination of deep expertise and true accessibility: she helps me understand what we’re doing while taking the labor off my shoulders. She also makes a complex, opaque world feel more manageable. Working with her has freed me to focus on the creative work that’s at the core of my business. I plan to work with Clare for the foreseeable future, and can’t recommend her highly enough.”

Why choose me?

I know you have a lot of options when it comes to SEO specialists. Choosing someone to trust with your online presence is a big decision, and it’s important to me that we’re the right fit for each other. Here’s what sets me apart:

I’ve been in your shoes as a small business owner myself. Running my own wedding and event flower business gave me firsthand insight into the challenges of wearing multiple hats - marketing, client management, product development, and yes, building an effective SEO foundation.

Before starting my own business, I spent years working in UK television on fast-paced entertainment projects. That world taught me how to collaborate creatively under tight deadlines while keeping communication crystal clear, skills that prove invaluable when guiding clients through SEO projects today.

There are some common threads in the unusual route I’ve taken to becoming an SEO consultant. In all of the evolutions of my working life, my talent for organization, planning and working together towards a common goal (whether a show in TV, a wedding for my floristry business or growing my clients’ website traffic now) has been key to my success.

Those same skills shape the way I manage client projects today, keeping things efficient, clear, and stress-free.

Beyond experience, I bring:

  • A proven SEO track record

  • Streamlined processes

  • Flexibility to work alongside other professionals you already trust

This combination of real-world small business experience, media-driven organisational skills, and technical expertise allows me to create SEO strategies that actually work for your business.

What makes me different?

When you work in tech, you need tenacity, persistence and a willingness to keep running experiments until you find something that works. I’ve always believed in trying something and seeing where it lands - I’m not afraid of failure. If I set my mind to something I follow through - I’ll always give something my best shot - if it doesn’t work out, I dust myself off and move on.

Like a lot of small business owners, I took a bit of a winding path to get to what I do now. First of all I worked in television, as a Production Manager on live shows for the BBC, before leaving to have my three kids. To do that work I needed stellar communication skills. It also taught me about working together as a team, on tight deadlines, making good use of my natural skills in planning and organization - all of which stands me in good stead in my work today.

I’ve been in your shoes

After working in TV, I started my own floral design business. This has given me on-the-ground experience of what it’s like to be an entrepreneur, spinning all the plates. I had no background in business and had to figure everything out from scratch - including SEO, which was a big part of how I made that business work. My studio was at my home and within 1 mile of my home there were 6 flower shops! After devoting time and a LOT of effort to my SEO efforts, I found my business in the number one spot on Google, above the other flower businesses.

My passion for SEO grew from that success. BUT I know not everyone wants to spend months teaching themselves something as dry and technical as SEO! In fact, most of my clients would rather do almost anything else…

SEO takes time, consistency and keeping up to date with the ever changing SEO landscape. My job is to take SEO off your plate, so you get to focus on what you love about your business, all the while  knowing that your local services are being found by the right people.

Finally, I think it’s important to consider not just what we do, but how we do it. I want us all to be able to live in a world with more acceptance and tolerance. I believe these qualities show up in how we listen and how we work with people, not just what we say. In my business, that means meeting clients without judgement, explaining things clearly, and creating strategies that work for their reality, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

“Working with Clare is enjoyable and effective. Her consult and check in calls are so helpful to cut through to the nitty gritty, and she can easily pinpoint what to prioritize and put things in motion. She has clear progress docs so you know what’s going on, and is timely to reply to any questions you may have. She also asks you to review any blog content before posting- and they were always so chock full of keywords and SEO magic, on top of being beautifully designed.”

The unofficial Mayor of Stockport

I love the variety of clients I get to work with in my business, but I have a particular soft spot for independent shops, restaurants, venues and retreat businesses. I’ve recently moved back to the UK (after 16 years living in California) and I’m now based in my home town of Stockport, which has a great range of indie businesses. From restored historic buildings to independent shops, cafés and creative businesses, it’s a vibrant place to be, and I love discovering and supporting new small businesses in the town - much has changed in 16 years! My friends call me ‘the mayor of Stockport’ because I’m always encouraging them to visit my latest find.

I love that I can take this passion for supporting the creativity of brick and mortar businesses and make it such a big part of my own business. Local SEO can be a game changer for quirky artisan businesses that might otherwise never get found by their ideal customers - it’s a joy for me to make sure that the right people can find them.
