What’s the difference between a template and a custom website?

A template website uses a professionally designed layout as the starting point — which I’ll then tailor to fit your brand, content, and goals. It’s more cost-effective than starting from scratch because the design framework is already in place. You still get a beautiful, strategic site — just without the time and cost of fully custom design.

For many creatives and small business owners, a template-based site is the perfect solution — especially if you want a smart, stylish site, and value SEO but don’t need something completely bespoke.

Every site I design includes thoughtful edits to make the template feel like you, plus strategic SEO to help you get found online.

MY PROCESS

    Book a call. We’ll talk through any initial thoughts you have for your website and take a look at available templates.

    If it’s a yes to deciding to work together you’ll select your template, either a free Squarespace website template or one of Big Cat Creative stunners. I’ll then send you a welcome pack and invoice for the non refundable retainer (25%) to book a spot for your website design

    With my guidance you’ll prepare your content: images, copy and branding. You’ll need professional photos with at least one head shot - I have access to stock imagery should we need it. We gather this info a month before design, this is also when the second payment is due.

    I begin building your website - we’ll have a check in half way though the week to go over any questions I may have to help me with the design. Your final payment is due at the start of this design week.

    After 7 days your website will be delivered to you. We’ll have one last check in that you’re happy before I transfer the site over to you - you’ll also receive a detailed video and link to resources should you need to make any changes (add blogs, portfolios etc) further down the line.

  • All the tech set up including GA4, Google Search Console, Site Map and a Google Business Profile should you need. Google Business Profile is available as an add-on.

  • 15 keywords specific to your business for you to use in any future copy for your site or social media

  • 100% done for you website - you provide the images and copy and any notes on your brand color palettes.

  • Pages: Home, About, Services, Contact (fewer pages than Option One)

  • Strategic SEO so your website can be found online by your ideal client. I specialize in local SEO.

  • All the tech set up including GA4, Google Search Console, Site Map and a Google Business Profile should you need. Google Business Profile is available as an add-on.

  • A thorough video handover so you can easily add any content

  • 15 keywords specific to your business for you to use in any future copy for your site or social media

  • Once you book your spot, I'll guide you through a simple prep process, including selecting a template, gathering your content, and outlining your goals. I allow up to a month for this prep work so you have plenty of time to get everything ready. When I have all the necessary information, your one-week build officially begins, and by the end of that week, you’ll have a polished, fully functional website ready to launch.

  • I take on only two websites per month to ensure each client gets my full attention. Because there’s a lead-up period for gathering content, I recommend booking at least a month in advance to secure your spot. You'll choose a start date on my calendar, and from there, we’ll work through the prep process together before your build week begins.

  • To keep things moving smoothly, you’ll need your brand elements (logo, colors, fonts), website copy, and any images you'd like to use. Don’t worry—I’ll provide a clear checklist to help you get everything organized before we begin.

  • No problem! If you're still working on branding, I can recommend resources to help. For copy, I provide guidance on what you need for each page, and I can offer feedback to ensure it's clear and effective. If you'd like extra help with writing, I can provide details for copywriters - I don’t write copy myself.

  • Absolutely! Your website will be easy to update, and I’ll provide a walkthrough so you feel confident making edits. If you need ongoing tweaks or SEO support, I also offer ad-hoc services to help keep your site fresh and optimized.

  • Your one-week website includes a fully customized Squarespace Big Cat Creative template, SEO setup, mobile-friendly design, and a recorded tutorial so you know how to manage your site moving forward. You’ll also get a stress-free, streamlined process that saves you hours of DIY frustration.
